Abstract.
The article examines the use of national motifs in the work of Ukrainian ceramic artist Petro Pechornyi (born 1932). The author analyzes how traditional Ukrainian symbols, images, and mythological motifs intertwine in the artist’s works, reflecting the deep connection between the artist and the national cultural heritage. Through the depiction of Ukrainian folklore characters, historical heroes, and popular legends, Pechornyi generates new works distinguished by artistic expressiveness and depth of meaning. The article emphasizes that the artist’s creativity is based on the archetypes of Ukrainian culture, while simultaneously incorporating elements of contemporary interpretation and individual artistic language. The study draws attention to the artist’s use of ornamental and compositional solutions characteristic of folk art, as well as Pechornyi’s ability to combine various cultural influences while preserving the authenticity of Ukrainian visual arts.
